8. Scholarship: All candidates (except sponsored and Foreign candidates) admitted through GATE/GPAT will be paid the fellowship as per UGC norms for the duration of the programme (24 months), so long as their progress in the programmes is satisfactory. Candidates admitted provisionally will not receive the scholarship till they submit proof of passing the qualifying examination within the specified date, i.e. September 30, of the year of admission. 9. How to Apply: (a) Application shall be on the prescribed form only. (b) Application form and information brochure are available on IT-website and BHU-Website (www.itbhu.ac.in/ www.bhu.ac.in). (c) Candidate may download the application form, fill in the form and submit by hand or by post alongwith Demand Draft for Rs. 500.00 (non-refundable) for General and OBC Categories/Rs. 250.00 (non-refundable) for SC/ST Category, in favour of “Institute of Technology, BHU”, payable at the State Bank of India, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (Code 0211), to the respective Heads of the Departments/Coordinators of Schools, Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi–221005 (UP), INDIA, on or before 10th May, 2010 for M.Tech. (f) Incomplete applications and applications received late i.e. after the last date will not be considered. (g) Applicants who send their application form by post are advised to post their application sufficiently in advance, taking into consideration the postal transit delays. The admission shall be open to candidates who have qualified B.Pharm. examination from a recognised university/board/institution with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. 3. The admission shall be open only to GATE qualified candidates. INTERVIEW AND ADMISSION Admission form attached at the end of the Handbook of Information duly filled and completed in all respects for admission to M.Pharm. Semester-I should be submitted to Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Science and Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala-147002 according to the schedule. The list of selected candidates on the basis of interview and those on the waiting list shall be displayed on the notice board. RESERVATION OF SEATS 80% of M.Pharm seats are meant for candidates who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm examination from Punjabi University, Patiala and 20% seats shall be open. However, if eligible candidate(s), who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm. Examination from Punjabi University, Patiala are not available, the vacant seats shall be open to candidates who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm. Examination from In case eligible candidates who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm from Punjabi qualified GATE and B.Pharm from Punjabi University, Patiala under reserved categories are not available, these vacant seats shall be open to eligible candidates, who have applied under these reserved categories and are residents of Punjab. However, if still such seats remain vacant in these reserved categories, they shall 49 be offered first to candidates of general category who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm. from Punjabi University, Patiala and then to candidates of universities other than Punjabi University, Patiala. 20% seats will be open to the candidates on All India Basis. The candidates being admitted under 20% quota on All India Basis shall be eligible only for reservation provided by the constitution i.e. 25% for SCs/STs and 5% for B.C.s 5. CRITERIA OF ALLOCATION TO SPECIALISATION Allocation of admitted candidates to a specialisation will be determined as per the criteria mentioned below : (a) Allocation of admitted students to various specializations shall be made on the basis of GATE score and their preference. (b) Seats as mentioned below shall be reserved in each specialization for candidates who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm. examination from Punjabi University, Patiala M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutics) Seats 06 M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutical Seats 06 Chemistry) M.Pharm. (Pharmacology ) Seats 06 M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutical Seats 02 Practice) One seat each in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmacology and two seats in Pharmacy Practice shall be offered to candidates who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm from other universities. However, if eligible candidate(s), who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm. examination from Punjabi University, Patiala are not available, the vacant seats shall be open to candidates who have qualified GATE and B.Pharm. examination from other universities and vice versa shall also apply. Seats meant for rural area and sports category candidates shall be equally distributed according to merit to all the specializations. In case these seats remain vacant they shall be filled up to merit to all the specializations. In case these seats remain vacant they shall be filled up according to merit by candidates who have passed B. Pharm from Punjabi University, Patiala. If these seats still remain vacant they shall be filled up by candidates who have passed B. Pharm. from other universities of Punjab arnd are resident of Punjab. (c) Separate merit list of candidates admitted under reserved category shall be prepared as per criteria mentioned in article 5 (a) for purpose of allocation to var ious specialisations. The candidates as per their merit list and order of their choice shall be equally distributed to the four specialisations and not more than one candidate in excess shall be allocated to one specialisation a s compared to other specialisations to accommodate the remainder (after equal distribution). (d) Candidates admitted to specialisation of their first choice shall not be allowed to shift to any other specialisation. In case of vacancy of seat the candidate admitted from waiting list against this vacancy shall be allocated to the specialisation depending upon the merit (as per article 5 (a) and of one’s choice and not depending upon the vacancy created in the specialisation. Candidates admitted already with a higher merit (as per article 5(a) than the candidate admitted from the waiting list shall be allowed to shift to the specialisation in which vacancy has occurred

Candidates with following background will be eligible for admission: (i) GATE qualified with B.Tech./B.E in the respective branches or in MCA/M.Sc. Computer Science/M.Sc. Mathematics (For M.Tech. in Computer Science/IT branch only)/M.Sc. Electronics (For M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering only) from a recognized University. For all the above courses (M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.) candidates appearing at the relevant qualifying examination in 2010 and waiting for their results can also apply. In-service candidates having professional qualifications equivalent to degree and with (i) 55% marks in aggregate (for M.Tech.); (ii) 45% marks in aggregate (for M.Pharm./M.Arch.) and 03 years of continuous relevant experience with good performance record are also eligible for admission. Non-GATE candidates must appear at the Online Test. GATE Qualified candidates are exempted from Online Test for consideration as a GATE candidate during admission.
